ScriptScout is the first UK company to offer a full industry scouting service. The lack of structure in the UK’s spec script market means that it can sometimes seem impossible for writers to get their material seen by agents and production companies. Similarly, producers and agents are overwhelmed with material and so are unable even to consider speculative submissions. ScriptScout cuts through the barriers that stand between new talent and established companies.

In order to do this, ScriptScout works alongside sales and distribution companies, production companies, and agencies. We speak to each individual company and establish the type of project they are actively seeking. We are then able to focus on positioning writers effectively. Our work with the three core areas of film production - distributors, producers and agents - means that we are able to develop a long term strategy for strong screenplays.

We will also be establishing our own development fund so that we can work further with writers and enhance their potential.

Added to this, we operate a database of coverage for scripts that receive ‘consider’ or ‘recommend’ from our analysts. This database is accessible by the industry and, subject to the writer’s consent, ScriptScout will pass on details of a screenwriter to a producer or agent who is interested in their project.

This service comes at no extra cost to our writer clients. ScriptScout’s database provides writers with a perfect platform through which their screenplays can be accessed by major film companies and producers. We also actively recommend individual projects to specific producers or agents if we feel that a script will be of particular interest to them.
